10th Street Visit 11.6.21

Sally
Observed the 10th street location from 2:20 to 2:45 on Saturday 11.6.  I was not successful in sighting the eagles, or possible nesting activity.

I will try searching the park during the week.

This post was updated on .
I found them at the Marina tonight, and it looked like the female was in the nest and the male was branched next to the nest, going to go back in the am to see if she's in the nest after sunrise and that will clinch it I think. Kinda wish they didn't choose that location, makes it had to observe when renaissance is in town.

Edited to add image from today. Taken @Marina
Not sure if they will stay there.

Marina ? where is there a marina near quiet waters ? So they won't be nesting in the same big tree from the past several years ? Is this spot more secluded for them ?

Hi Sally,

The Marina is at the NW corner of Quiet Waters park, it's fenced in but you can go behind the building there and the beach is there and you can see them straight out in the tree on the island. Follow the signs in quiet waters park to "Woofing Waters" and the marina is in the same area. I have posted a google earth of the where the nest is, and where the marina is. If you have never been there, it's really nice, you should check it out. You can use your browser zoom to zoom in on this map, I know it's hard to see. Sorry about that.

For an update, I observed that both parents left the nest this morning and didn't return the time I was there, about an hour 9:30am. So it doesn't look like there has been a decision for that nest, last year they did this and at the last minute moved to 10th street and built a "Make Shift" nest and it fell down last year, so I don't think there is any eggs yet either. I will return this evening to check what they are up to.

Thanks Kit,

In previous visits at the marina, it seemed the picnic bench provided good viewing, as well as the beach area near the canoes.

There was a post on e-bird in 2020 from someone who had access to the marina area during ren-fest.  She explained she was given special permission  with Audubon Eagle watch, the park management and the Ren-fest, to monitor this nest for Audubon Eagle Watch.  Ren-Fest is scheduled for Feb. 5 through Mar. 20, 2022.

  Enjoy the day!  Sally

Thx Kit for the info I hope if they move back it's not another quickie nest. Inside the park seems more secluded for them but the fest might prove to be noisy

Hi everyone,

I went to the Marina location last night and they didn't show up, I think I saw one of them down by the tenth street location, but I'm not sure. Time will tell.
