I will not be able to observe the nest for a while. In the meantime, please keep an eye out for the eaglet's welfare. She may be returning to the nest for a few weeks before finally setting off on her own. I really appreciate how Phil Martin has been keeping us posted and had given permission for his photo to be reproduced here. It demonstrates her remarkably long wing! Phil writes (APR 19):
Yesterday (041818) at appx. 14:30 the Eaglet was perched in the tree back and to the corner of 208. She departed to the south after a few minutes. The female adult was perched above the nest.
This morning (041918) the Eaglet was perched on the large branch to the east of the nest. No other activity. This photo is from this morning.
