When this season started Pride didn't return, he was believed to be about 24 years old and assumed perished of old age. When Jewel returned, she had a new, young, inexperienced male with her. They had a very difficult time constructing a new nest. They spent several weeks trying with sticks just falling. They eventually got it together, and seem to have egg(s) or possibly eaglet(s). Phil Martin has followed this nest for 18 years and he has named the new male, Soar. If you watch him, he literally soars around in circles, round and round! Their nest is pretty much like Pride and Jewel's nests over the years, with all of us holding our breath every time the winds pick up, as it's not in the best of spots as always. So hopefully, they will fledge some eaglet(s) this year!

I went down to check on the nest and saw Jewel sitting high in the nest then her mate came with a fish. stayed about 15mins. last year there were a lot of photgs felt so bad for the eagles, I dot post in the facebook group which has over 700 members. I didn't see anyone at the nest when i was there but it was after 1pm. I will be checking on the PP pair along with DFB and post my observations. I think they must have any eaglet but cant confirm , didn't know Pride has passed on well have to come up w a new name for Jewel's mate

<i><b>I had to stop observing the Pembroke Pines nest back in October, 2021 due to health problems. I moved to Connecticut three months later. A local resident and long time nest watcher provided an update about the past two nesting seasons as well as the present status of the nest:
<br/></b></i><br/><br/><b>It has been a while since I updated you.
<br/><br/>Last season ended with the nest totally collapsing one eaglet perished and I believe the other eaglet did survive and depart the area.
<br/><br/>This year has been eventful:
<br/><br/>Pride perished. He never returned this season.
<br/>Jewel has a new mate. He appears to be a young male.
<br/><br/>They had a great deal of difficulty building a nest. The nest is **** (out in the open). Sadly there are many photographers visiting the nest. Many that only care about getting photos. I have counted as many as 40+ photographers in one morning. All within 50’ of the nest.
<br/><br/>I can’t believe the nest hasn’t fallen. It is on a branch that doesn’t appear too sturdy. We have been having some wind and rain the past several days. The nest has sustained some damage but not to bad. I will go by on my way to church this morning.
<br/><br/>I haven’t heard any chatter about the city selling the land.
<br/><br/>Based on the behaviors yesterday, I think???? Jewel has laid an egg. </b>

Dear Supporters of Bald Eagles of Broward County,
<br/><br/>I hope this message finds you well, and I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continuous support and commitment to our mission. Your dedication to the preservation of our local avian species, particularly our beloved Bald Eagles, is truly commendable.
<br/><br/>In recent weeks, we have encountered a significant challenge that threatens the integrity of our invaluable research data. As many of you are aware, our community has diligently gathered and documented essential information about the avian species in our region for several years. This data is not only fundamental to our understanding of local bird populations but also plays a pivotal role in our advocacy for the conservation of these magnificent creatures.
<br/><br/>Regrettably, unforeseen technical issues and data management concerns have placed this priceless research at risk. We are acutely aware of the importance of safeguarding this data for the benefit of future generations and the continued conservation of our Bald Eagles and other avian species.
<br/><br/>However, I am delighted to announce that we are taking decisive action to confront this challenge head-on. We have initiated discussions with skilled web developers who share our passion for avian conservation. Together, we are devoting our time and expertise to devise a comprehensive solution that will guarantee the preservation and accessibility of our research data.
<br/><br/>I want to assure you that we fully understand the urgency of this matter, and we are unwavering in our commitment to keeping you informed throughout this process. Your support and involvement have been instrumental in the success of the Bald Eagles of Broward County, and we deeply appreciate your dedication.
<br/><br/>Please stay tuned for regular updates as we work tirelessly to secure the future of our avian populations. Together, we will ensure that the beauty and diversity of South Florida's avian species, especially our majestic Bald Eagles, continue to thrive for generations to come.
<br/><br/>With sincere gratitude and unyielding determination,

No webcam on the Pines nest.
<br/><br/>Here is the actual quote from David Choate:
<br/><br/>"Today's action around Pride and Jewell's nest in Pembroke Pines. Someone who has long studied eagles says he's 100 percent sure there's an egg in that nest being incubated.
<br/>December 7, 2022...."
<br/><br/>Perhaps since the first day of incubation behavior was observed on December 7, possibly an additional egg may be expected at the 3 or 4 day interval. No other posts have mentioned incubation.

I went by the nest at 12 PM Saturday. Doubt there are any eggs as the eagles weren't near the nest for at least 15 minutes. I went at that time thinking if there were eggs at least one eagle woild be there at all times

I don't have access to that facebook page, they don't want anyone to post anything but Pembroke nest pictures. But if you're not going to use this forum which was created for anyone to use, then why not open up the facebook page to all the nests in the Broward County area? This forum was made for all the nests in the Broward county area. Is there anyone monitoring the Pembroke nest from the EagleWatch Program in here? And if so, do you post to their Facebook page with the progress of this nest? Thanks,

Just realized you are posting under the Pembroke Pines nest!! My response was what I saw at Quiet Waters. Pride and Jewel are doing great, they are seen pretty much daily building and mating! I was there a couple weeks ago, I also see daily updates on their Facebook page.

Yes, Kit!
<br/>I was there last Wednesday, Nov. 30th. I saw one eagle, pretty sure it is the female, as it was big. Came down from the nest, landed on a branch that is just above the water, took a few drinks. Then proceeded to have a blast bathing in the water!! It was so cool to watch, the eagle stayed for probably 45 minutes drinking and bathing. A beautiful sight!! I usually go Weds or Thurs mornings each week.

<br/><br/>Hi all,
<br/><br/>Please read & share this article about the PP eagles and their land. There is some road construction nearby. Just take a few mins and call/email the city and remind them about special the eagles are how important green open spaces are.

I have enjoyed the information shared by the members of this forum and learned so much by being here. It is unfortunate how things have changed recently.
<br/><br/>Ken Schneider shared this post in February. I have not joined the Facebook group mentioned yet. Hope all of our eagles are surviving the smoky conditions.

Hello Pembroke Eagle friends,
<br/><br/>Has this chick fledged yet, I noticed in some of the pictures being posted that it was branching and that was week or so past, would like to see an update? Is there someone from Eagle Watch program assigned to this nest, and if so do you know his or her name? Thanks you for your help.

Hello,
<br/><br/>Really nice shots, I really like the one where the chick landed outside the nest and it seems to be wondering how to get back to the nest, although scarry for the chick, it made for a good shot. Adult seems to just watch, somehow knowing it will make it back up. <img class='smiley' src='/images/smiley/anim_claps.gif' /><br/><br/>
