FEB 1: Female deep in nest-- incubating already or soon

This morning I watched the nest after the rain stopped, from a little before 10 AM until 11:00. An adult (presumably the female Jewel) was deep in the nest and barely visible the entire time. The wind was blowing the trees around but something was moving, just visible through the loose branches around the rim of the nest. This is the best photo I could obtain of the occupant. I had to look at the photos on the computer screen to confirm my observation:

This is a close crop of the same photo:

A dark morph Short-tailed Hawk flew low and very close over the nest and the eagle started calling

Both members of the pair were quite active on January 28 and Pride had been bringing in soft nest lining materials. Luis had been there earlier this morning before it rained and said Jewel was on the nest and that Pride brought in a branch.

There were quite a few observers at the nest yesterday morning but I received no reports about the behavior of the female. Did she stick to the nest? We have been assuming that the female rests low in the nest for a couple of days before laying the first egg, but will move around or leave the nest before settling deep and for an extended time after depositing the first egg.

I did see her deep in the nest on 1/20. The next day you reported she was out and about, but I haven't heard of much off-nest activity since then. I bet she's incubating already.
