“Members of the community will be able to see Paige up close” said Lynda White, EagleWatch Coordinator with the Audubon of Florida who is visiting with Paige from Maitland Florida.
In her short lifetime Paige, who was injured as an eaglet and is now gloved trained, has helped to educate over 300,000 students and adults. Paige and Lynda were invited to visit by Kelly Smith a 7th Grade Science Teacher and her class at Silver Trail Middle School, who are actively involved in hands on wild life programs. Throughout the program Paige, will be perched for visitors to take photos.
“The Pembroke Pines Eagle nest located in the middle of an urban area,” said White. “This is a true testament that eagles are dong well in Florida for the most part, and that the City of Pembroke Pines is doing its part to protect the nesting site. The Pembroke Pines 2009/2010 nesting season produced three eaglets. “Three eaglets, anywhere is fairly uncommon, two is the average,” said White.
