Broward Parks website shows that Quiet Waters park is reopened as of October 1. I will visit in the coming days and report my findings.

Hello,
Yes I noticed that as well when I went there on Wednesday and I asked them inthe office and they confirmed that they were open again, but they said you will have to wait in any lines that might be there if you go during testing hours, the testing ends at 3:00PM Here's a couple of shots of the male in the island nest tree. Where is the nest located in park? I've never visited this nest.

Hi Steve,
If you stand on the shore near the canoe rack behind the building where Woofing Waters dog park is you will be able to see the island where the nest tree is located. Please refer to the map (thanks to Rockitglider). Good luck, Sally |
Thanks for the info. I have a 500mm lens. Is that good enough for a shot?

Hi Steve,
I use a 500mm as well with a 1.4 Teleconverter and a D500 camera with a crop sensor which brings it to 700mm and the pictures look okay, you can see from what I post. The distance is around 500' at the shore of the marina at the park to the nest, I recommend to bring binoculars too so you can find them, because sometimes they are not at the nest. Kit

I stopped by for about an hour the past two days, but didn't see them and couldn't see the nest from my vantage point in the corner behind the dog park fence. Any advice on the best time to see them and the best place to watch from?

Hello,
Did you bring binoculars? You really can't see them without some kind of magnification if you don't know exactly where to look. The nest is in the center of the tree about 2/3rds of the way up from the ground. There is a opening in that area of the tree where you can see light through it and the nest is there. But like I said they are not always at the nest sometimes they are at the other end of the park by the old nest tree. You really need binoculars to find them when they aren't at the nest. If you want I can let you know when I go there next time and you can meet me there at the Dog Park, you will have to give me an email or a way to contact you though. I usually go there after 3pm to avoid the cars doing Covid testing. So from 4-6pm you might have a better chance of seeing them. Kit

I found them today! There's a less obstructed (though farther away) view from the shore near the pavillion across the water from the dog park. I got there around 3:30, and one was on the nest, so it was easy to spot from there. Once I knew where the nest was, I was able to go around to the dog park and observe it a little closer. From that angle I could see both eagles. One never left the nest. The other hung around for about 45 minutes before it took off. This nest is a lot farther away than the old nest. I wish there was a way to get a little closer, though it's probably better for the eagles that we can't! These were at 800mm.
