Kelly Heffernan, South Florida Audubon's Project Perch Coordinator forwarded a message she got from Sharon, one of our Burrowing Owl volunteers. She wondered whether there may be a nest up in that area (Tephord Park in Tamarack).
Sharon was quite pleased. She wrote: "Ate a pigeon. Was close to playground."
This appears to be an early four year old (fifth year) bird. It retains some dark feathers in its mostly white head and tail. The dark "osprey line" behind the eye may persist into the fifth year plumage.
