A neighbor from the Walden Lake subdivision adjacent to the Pembroke Pines eagle nest reported On November 2 at 10:01 AM:

"I wanted you to know that I think I saw an eagle on US 27 this morning about a mile frim west Pines Blvd. It was in the right hand lane & looked deceased. I saw a white head and it was a large bird. I called Florida Fish & Wildlife, but they were closed. So I called the Pembroke Pines Police Dept., they patched me through to a wildlife service number & I could only leave a message. I couldn't stop, because I had to get to work. I wanted to reach out to someone who I know cares about these eagles, and thought of you. Maybe you can find out something. I've lived here for 25 yrs & care about them, too. I hope I'm wrong. Maybe you'll see them both in the nest & let me know. I turned North onto 27 frim Pines Blvd. It was in the right hand lane. Maybe about a mile down. I can't recall the exact distance. I just thought it was close enough to their nesting area. So, northbound right hand lane."

I told her that we only saw the male on Friday (October 31) but have photos of both together on Sunday October 25. Since eagles often eat road kill and may flock with the vultures they are at great risk of being killed by motor vehicles. I promised to let her know whether or not observers are reporting both at the nest. They had not started renovating the nest as of this week, which is a bit late.

Of course it may have been an Osprey or even a Muscovy Duck, but this person is familiar with the Bald Eagles. If anyone has a current observation as to the presence of adult eagles at the Pembroke Pines nest, please reply.
