Good news-- Phil, one of the eagle nest watchers who is a retired PP police officer went out and found the body of the bird. on right side of road south of Sheridan but I am not not sure how far north of Pines.

It was definitely an Osprey and not a Bald Eagle as he said he inspected it closely. In the meantime we had not yet seen both eagles at the nest at the same time. This morning the female was there but not the male.

This is a relief and we really appreciate our neighbor's concern about the eagles. It was great that she noticed this despite driving in traffic and being unable to stop.

After fledging, the main known cause of death for urban eagles is motor vehicle collision as they may join vultures eating roadkill.

Female (Jewel) at nest this morning. Nest is still in bad shape and shows no signs of restoration:

As the mate was not there for comparison, I judged it to be the female by her bulky ("bottom-heavy")  profile and large head with strong brow and maybe a big-looking beak. A close-up shows that the gape  of her bill extends well under her eye, characteristic of female Bald Eagles:
