It is interesting that the Pembroke Pines eagles may be spending so much time at that location, which is about 8.5 miles away from the nest.
I have noticed some open land nearby, just south of Florida's Turnpike but am not familiar with the nature of the habitat. Otherwise there doesn't seem to be a likely nesting area within a couple of miles. If there is another nest it also should be hatching eaglets about now. If an eagle is seen carrying prey its direction of travel should be carefully noted, as they could be headed directly home.
The new
Miramar Pineland Park near Miramar Parkway & University is only 3.5 miles away and I thought some of its larger native slash pine trees would provide nest sites for eagles, but I am not aware of any reports of sightings there.
While not impossible, it seems unlikely that the PP eagles would range so far in search of prey. Let's all keep a sharp eye out!
