We checked the nest on December 2 and watched from about 9:45-10:30 AM. One adult was roosting on the right nest support branch and there was no sign of an occupant in the nest. Since the time for egg-laying is approaching, it is a good idea to watch carefully for at least 20-13 minutes before concluding the nest is empty. Once incubation starts, the female will be very deep in the nest. It has a rather high wall around the cup this year, making it more difficult to see an adult deep in the nest. Usually she will get up periodically to turn the eggs and to change position. The other adult was not observed.
