DEC 30: Nest restoration and much activity all morning

Mary Lou and I arrived at the nest at about 10:20 AM. Luis had been there twice since 8:00 AM. It was quite cool and very windy since the cold front passed over this morning. Luis said the both eagles were at the nest early and the male (Pride) had brought in some sticks and they were arranging them. After he returned he saw one adult fly off about an hour before we arrived. The female (Jewel) was on the nest and suddenly the male entered from back of the nest.

We believe he brought food as the female was eating and Pride watched her.

Then Jewel flew up on the branch in front of the nest. Pride appeared to finish eating the food.

Jewel then flew up to the usual roost in the tree to the left of the nest.

Pride then flew to the west.

Luis saw that he landed on the ground in the cow pasture to the NW but did not seem to be gathering nest materials. He watched Pride fly off to the west, and then we saw him return to the nest from the read. Jewel remained on the tree, swaying in the wind.

Since they are both staying near the nest we hope this means that they may be getting ready to lay eggs.
