FEB 11: Pride on nest at 9:30 AM

We arrived at thenest at about 9:20 and found it vacant with no eagles in sight. I walked to check the Melaleucas west of the nest and found not eagles, but when I returned to the nest I found Pride there eating. I presume he flew in from the south, as there was a brisk northerly breeze. He only remained on the nest for about 10 minutes, then flew off to the northeast.

I love the photos of Pride in flight!  A quick question ... is it possible the femaile was there, deep in the nest?

I did not watch long enough to be absolutely sure whether a female was deep in the nest. If one were incubating she would periodically change position and reveal herself. However I doubt one was there, as there would likely have been some kind of contact when Pride arrived at the nest. In any event, the best sign that incubation has not begun is the fact that both eagles are being seen up and about. Once the first egg is laid the female will generally not leave the nest unattended unless relieved of duties by the male.

I see the head to the right of the nest and it was hard to see but me and my husband seen it and you could see the yellow of the peck also .Just given my input on what we seen if I did not have the Camera I have it would have been hard to see anything .
