Here is a thought that I would run by everyone

I was looking at the pictures that I took today and was sat thinking about the eagle calls I heard.
The nest looks like it is missing some material on the right side, and it looks like it has been left for a bit.
How about this theory that for what ever reason the birds decided that they dont like this nest anymore and moved it back from the road.

While I was standing on the paved road by the melaleuca trees I heard eagles calling from in front of me and slightly to the left as I was facing the melaleuca trees and it sounded a fair ways back.

Do you think it is possible that they moved the nest?  Is it possible?

Kathy, it is not only possible but actually rather common for Bald Eagles to move nest sites or even maintain more than one site within their territory. Your observation is important because one adult has been seen consistently and you also believe you heard an eagle calling from inside the wooded area. If perhaps they have a new nest the female could be incubating and since they exchange duties there would be only one adult free at any given time. They also call in recognition when one adult arrives to relieve the other of nesting duties. Observers should be alert to this possibility!

On the other side of this possibility is the fact that there have been no observations of the adults carrying nesting materials to a new nest, which takes a lot of work.

Well We know now that we have a new Female and Pride has not left his nest .. He would not do that :)
