JAN 10 & 12: Eaglet(s) being fed by female

Based upon ground observations, the first egg was probably deposited on or about December 7, so hatching was expected 35 days later, on or about January 11. On January 10, a ground observer was quite certain that the eagles were feeding at least one eaglet. I observed for a full hour on the morning of January 11 and found the male (Pride) deep in the nest and barely visible  the entire time, with the female (Jewel) roosting in the customary spot in the tallest tree to the east.





The front rim of the nest is quite high and it is possible that the smaller male was "tenting" but his posture could not be determined with certainty. This morning, between 9:00 and 9:30 AM the female sitting was high in the nest and definitely tearing at prey and bringing food down to one or very possibly a second eaglet:









After she finished feeding, Jewel sat high in the nest:
