We visited the nest at 8:15AM and found an adult incubating deep in the nest. No mate was in sight. Often the one in the nest was not visible at all. The first egg should hatch in about 7 days, so keep an eye out for a change in behavior at the nest. Signs of a hatch include the parent "tenting," or moving a bit higher up to provide room for the eaglet while continuing to incubate one or more eggs (if any). Both parents may peer down into the new baby, and within a day or so will bring food and feed tiny portions to the chick.
