JAN 21, 5:00 PM-- No adults at nest so far today

Multiple observers have visited the nest today and found no activity. No sign of either adult. I hope I am wrong but my thought is that Jewel's failure to return may be due to her being injured or killed. Although she did not have the brooding instinct last season she worked very well with Pride as they took turns incubating the eggs. Pride did feed the eaglet(s) but may not have had the instinct to shelter them when the weather turned cold and windy. I wonder if the falling branch had anything to do with Jewel's absence. We may never know but I hope I am wrong about the loss of the eaglet(s) and abandonment of the nest.

Ken , That Branch was down when we were at the nest for 4 hours on Sunday Night and Pride & Jewel were both at the nest . It is possible that the Eaglet passed away and Pride & Jewel left the nest . We half to wait and see what happens in the next few days .
