At 6:35 AM on July 10, one minute before sunrise, the juvenile eaglet flew over the Harbour Lakes mitigation wetlands, in Miramar, about 1 1/2 miles SE of the nest. It was headed towards the large lake in Sunset lakes. This is quite late to see the juvenile linger so close to the nest. Usually the south Florida eaglets wander to the north by July. Did not get a very good photo because of distance and the poor light, but it was definitely a first year bird (juvenile) as evidenced by overall dark body, wings, head and beak and white axillae ("armpits") along with smoothly bulging secondaries without evidence of any molt of the flight feathers
