Monday DEC 11 - one adult incubating

Mary Lou and I visited the nest around 9:15 AM and found one adult deep in the nest. Its head and bill are barely visible, just to the left of the main trunk. No other adult seen.



There was a Red-shouldered Hawk on the top of the power pole that is east of the one in front of the nest.



It flew into a nearby tree and appeared to be drying its wings.

It is really hard to get a good one of the incubating adult in the nest.  My camera kept focusing on those power lines and the yellow things on them and the bird was just a blur.

Wish I could get one of an adult on the melaleuka trees or the Australian Pine.

BTW, for those of you who remember Carolyn...She and her husband have moved to Sebring, so it's doubtful we will see her at the PP nest site.

Jill, I don't have trouble with the lines, provided I position the camera image to be as far away from the lines as possible. Are you using center point focus? If you use manual or multiple point focus you will always bring the nearest object into full focus.
