Hi Tammie,
I met up with danicox and we went to the old 10th street spot and it looks like they are trying to re-build their old nest there in the same tree, thats why they look so close. And that is also why the nest looks so small if you look close you can see the nest is barely big enough for mama to sit in, I hope they can build it in time for eggs. Everyone please try to stay out of site during the first few weeks while they work on the nest, try not to park in the open, we were east of the fence and walked up to the big sign that crosses the highway so we could hide behind the pole and stay out of sight. I'm just concerned that they might get spooked. Thanks everyone for helping and I hope they stay here this year as it is much easier to see them. One more thing is be careful parking by the big sign as there is a dranage ditch there that you can fall into with your car, so be careful. See ya, Kit

Here's a few of my shots from the day, I love the one where he lands on the nest with her and puts his wing around her to steady them both as the nest is so small it really is too small for the both of them.

Awe how sweet! I don’t understand why they left the other nest area for a small nest

I don't know either,
maybe it's full of bugs. I saw on the nest cams of the west coast nest, bugs crawling all over the baby eagles and all in the nest probably from all the fish pieces and other dead things that get left in the nest, I imagine they can get quite dirty after a while. I don't know if maybe it just doesn't bother them? It would bother me for sure! ![]() Kit

It is interesting that the Pembroke Pines pair are also working on a second nest. It, too, is still small and in a precarious location. They have visited the old one but not seemed to have made any improvements before moving on to work on the new site.

Never thought about how bugs could become a housekeeping problem in a nest!
