Hello,
I saw the same chick in the nest this morning as Stephanie saw in her post, looking good and exercising it's wings, I checked for the first larger chick below and around the nest on the ground and in the trees surrounding the nest and at the location where it was last seen when it fledged and the good news is I didn't see any remains, so I assume this one has fledged and that's how I am going to report it. So as naturegirl said it looks like the second one is ready to go soon as well. It's a good thing because the nest looks terrible and the adults aren't feeding it much anymore (Normal). I think it was a good season overall and I hope we can get a sign posted by next season just stating the general rules for observing bald eagle nests and most people will abide by the rules and some won't but at least we did what we could. Have a great day everyone, and we'll see you around.

I have been contacted by the Turnpike authority. They will be happy to post signs or even put up fences. I have their contact info that I will post below. I don't think it is worth it to do anything this year as they take time to get things done and the eaglets are already starting to fledge. Next year once we know where the nest is, we can contact them and tell them what we need.
I can contact them next year but please sent me an Email to be sure I get on it as soon as possible as I don't always follow this link. My E-mail is : Drlester3@aol.com her E-mail is : debbie.meyer@dot.state.fl.us |
Sounds good to me, so we should do it by September just before nesting season, even if they don't use the same tree it is still a good thing to have signs around warning about the eagles, I don't really think a fence is necessary, but signs would be great. Thanks for all your help.

It flew away from the tree last night and went over the fence on the other side of the tree where the nest is. Seem to fly pretty well but it didn’t go really really high so I doubt if it actually left for good I doubt if it has left for good because of this happens they usually end up hanging around the nest For a month and maybe longer so I’m willing to bet we will be seeing that little eagle again very shortly or rather that big eagle again LOL it is one of the bigger ones I have seen at that age. I’m gonna stop by again tomorrow or maybe on my way home from work today On Fri, Apr 9, 2021 at 2:03 PM Rockitglider [via Bald Eagles of Broward County, Florida] <[hidden email]> wrote: Hello, Sent from Gmail Mobile

I really wish we could get this nest to have a WebCam like many of the other nest that I follow. It’s a live feed and it would really be awesome On Fri, Apr 9, 2021 at 2:24 PM Drlester3 [via Bald Eagles of Broward County, Florida] <[hidden email]> wrote: I have been contacted by the Turnpike authority. Stephanie, that sounds good, but my wish for this pair is we think about a serious name for each adult and take it seriously, everytime I brought it up it seemed like it was a joke and not taken seriously? Maybe it's just harder to tell ones feelings behind a message board? We need to use the smileys.....or angary's what ever applies at the moment.

I totally agree Or maybe even a Facebook page would be good. That might spread the word about the mess maybe then we can get a cam to be put up somehow. I don’t wanna overstep but I be more than happy to look into all that On Fri, Apr 9, 2021 at 3:34 PM Rockitglider [via Bald Eagles of Broward County, Florida] <[hidden email]> wrote: Stephanie, that sounds good, but my wish for this pair is we think about a serious name for each adult and take it seriously, everytime I brought it up it seemed like it was a joke and not taken seriously? Lester - that is great news about the signs and actually I think fence would be a good idea that would really help get the message across not to approach.
Kit - names would be great and agree need to have things in place or in the works before the season starts because it will take time for them to make and put up the signs. Stephanie - thanks again for going there to make sure eaglet #1 was ok Tammie - yes maybe we can all meet aftre the season or before next season btw does anyone know if it's common for them to eat oppossum ? |
I’ve seen them eat everything!!!!! Anyway it’s a great idea to meet. I don't agree on a fence, I think it's a bad idea and will be more problems than solutions and don't we have to get a contractor to get a fence, the signs would be free.

A fence would keep people back which is the most important thing, I believe the fdot would put up the efence. I have seen cars coming off the turnpike which is dangerous so a fence would prevent that

Hello,
The reason I don't want a fence is, I just don't like chain link fences, and you can't take pictures through them. Go to the Blimp Base and try to get a shot of the blimp through their fence, you have to get above the fence or be right against it to get a shot, I'm telling you, you wont like it for getting pictures.

I agree with no fence! The signs will help educate those that don't have common sense. I enjoy taking pictures of them, really don't want a fence. On Sun, Apr 11, 2021, 7:18 PM Rockitglider [via Bald Eagles of Broward County, Florida] <[hidden email]> wrote: Hello, |
