This immature Bald Eagle appears to be a 2nd year bird as it has signs of molt in the flight and tail feathers and also sharp contrast between its dark upper chest and the light belly. Not much white on its head and suggestion that the base of its bill is beginning to turn yellow. It may well be one from the local Pembroke Pines nest which is about 1 mile NW of this location. If so, it would now be about 1 1/2 years old. Photographed November 2, 2014 in the West Miramar Wetlands, part of the West Broward Water Conservation Area. Spotted first by Scott McPherran over the lake in the Harbour Lakes impoundment, at about 7:30 AM.
