Summary of 2013-14 Breeding season available

I have updated the Eagle Milestone Spreadsheet (Link to it here) to show significant events through the end of the 2013-14 breeding season.

You may be particularly interested in the summary and analysis of significant events (link here) during the past seven breeding seasons. It answers questions such as the date of egg laying, age at fledging and how long it takes the juveniles to migrate away from the nesting area, presumably to northern areas where the water is cooler and fish are found nearer the surface of the water.  

Special thanks to Maria Rosa Drake, who provided the only late-season observations while I was away and was unable to lend a hand. I also want to express gratitude to EVERYONE who has contributed reports and comments, and welcome the new QUIET WATERS PARK DEERFIELD Eagle Nest Sub-forum. We hope their eagles return this fall.

Please continue to post any eagle sighting in this FORUM. We expect to see mainly adult birds during the summer months, as those in south Florida tend to wander in the general area of the nesting territory rather than migrate north. But who knows what we may learn if we all are vigilant and report sightings of eagles? Will they be loafing in some chosen area such as the Lighthouse in Sunset Lakes?

Thanks for all of your hard work on this.  It is great to be able to watch
the eagles "from our computer" and visit them when we can.  We couldn't do
that without all of your hard work!
