We checked on the welfare of the eaglet this morning around 8:15 AM and watched for about 45 minutes. The eaglet was alone on the nest and at first neither parent was in sight.
Within 15 minutes we could hear both adults calling from behind the nest. Soon both arrived to roost in the melaleuca snags west of the nest. The eaglet became more active, but after about 15 minutes both adults flew away without visiting the nest. The light was behind these eagles, but it did provide highlights. The female is roosting on the taller snag. Note heavier body and slightly higher "forehead."
