I just wanted to update the Quiet Waters nest with exciting news!! After countless hours of watching, observing, waiting, etc. I can confirm we have at least one eaglet that is 4 weeks old. Our eagles started nestorations in October as usual to the nest outside of the park near the Sawgrass. I saw them mating a couple times Thanksgiving week, she followed suit with sitting very low in the nest. Then the first week of January, she was high on the nest and a fish was brought in. A week later, nothing, for 3 weeks our eagles weren't to be found. Then I saw them bringing in branches and grasses. Mama sat very low in the nest, usually out of sight unless she rolled the eggs, starting in February. I go a few times a week to watch and wait for hours, sometimes, just catching a glimpse of her moving around, then she disappears in the bowl! I was there March 19, and she was low in the bowl, when I returned March 24, she was up high on the back of the nest. I also caught daddy door dash bringing fish to the nest twice. The nest is well hidden with branches, you really have to be in the right spot, with the wind blowing just right to see anything. They had never left the nest alone, so we were sure they had a re-clutch. After hearing the squeeing and not sure if it was wishful thinking, I finally saw an eaglet this week. Yesterday, I saw her with a big piece of fish and 2 dark black "blobs" under and in front of her. So there might be 2 eaglets! Here is the link to the photos I have taken from this season. The last one is from yesterday, you have to zoom, but you can see what appears to be 2 black blobs waiting to be fed. Hungry and very loud, right after, it was quiet again!
