Wednesday, September 19 -- Adult seen flying from nest area

On our first walk in the wetlands of West Miramar since returning to Florida, I saw an adult Bald Eagle flying south towards the large lake in Sunset Lakes, from the general vicinity of the Pembroke Pines nest. We should keep an eye out for evidence that the eagles are starting to occupy the nest territory, such as visits to the nest, carrying sticks, courtship activities.

I've seen a single eagle roosting on the lighthouse and Sunset Lakes all summer long.  I don't have any children at West Broward any more (they have all fledged to college!), so I don't get a chance to visit the nest very often.  I will be sure to look for them around the nest whenever I am near.
