Young Eagles go Airborne, but Stay in Nest - April 3, 2010

EagleObserver
Al and I watched the young eagles romp around the nest for nearly three hours with out any sign of parents.  All three eaglets were visible at the same time on numerous occasions.  At 10:45 one of the parents made a quick food drop -- was met with a flurry of young feathers, and flew off after less than a minute.  The parent landed on a power pole east of the nest for a short stop, and then flew further east across the road.  During the morning one young seemed ready to leave the nest, head leaning forward and flapping into the SE wind.  Also numerous times two young eagles would go into a flapping frenzy, one becoming well airborne and teetering on the edge, if not just over the edge, of the nest before landing safely back with the other eaglets.
