Tuesday 5/17/10

I was at the nest from about 10:30-12:00 today. There were 2 in the nest when I got there, then an adult made a drop and the 3rd appeared from behind and east of the nest. All 3 stayed in the nest for some time. Another drop was made about 15 mins later. Finally 1 flew to a tree just west of the nest and stayed there for a bit. It then took off flying north and both of the other eaglets came right out of the nest and flew with their sibling. All 3 flew around over my head, going higher and higher. It was an awesome sight to behold! Then they must have seen a parent coming and 2 of them zeroed in on the nest for another drop. It was really cool to see them go into a dive pattern to get there quickly. The 3rd eaglet stayed up flying and was joined by the parent that had made the last drop. Lots of action in just a little time. What a treat!
