No adults were in sight this morning. P Piney 11 was roosting in her parents' favorite spot in the tall Australian Pine just east of the nest tree. No adults were in sight. The sun was behind her, so the photos are not very sharp. Some needed fill flash.

Notice that the young eagle has longer wing feathers than an adult. They reach well down the tail, which is also a bit longer than that of an adult. They help improve lift for the first year or so. A second year bird will have a shaggy wing outline as flight feathers are replaced by shorter adult size ones.
