Adult Bald Eagle in Bonaventure, Mon. 26 Nov 2012

Trisha
I noticed a circling large bird just south of the intersection of Bonaventure Blvd and Saddleclub Rd. over a portion of the golf course. There is a lot of water and tall trees and a mature adult Bald Eagle was looking down and circling just above the height of the tallest pine trees, making very slow, large circles over the area. I was quite surprised and did a quick u turn but couldn't re-spot it. I wondered if it was feeding, looking for nesting locations? It was alone. I've never seen one this low in the general vicinity of my home before.

I hope you get to see it again, Trisha.

Could it be one that hatched in our Pembroke Pines nest and has now matured?  Doubtful, I guess, but maybe.

This could possibly be the same one I saw last week as I was driving westboung on 595 towards I 75. I had my doubts about it being a Bald Eagle, especially being unaware that there are some in the area. It was around 7:15AM and it circled around Nob Hill Rd and flew across 595, literally nfront of my winshield, but not too low. It was very exciting to see as I had never seen one flying out in the open like that.
