The Mayor of Pembroke Pines (Frank Ortis) received a report of a possible eagle nest on a cell tower along Johnson Street just east of North Palm Avenue, and referred it to us for investigation. The observer sent photos of the pair on the tower. I could not see any nest materials on the tower, but the pair may be scouting it out. She writes:
"I sent two short videos where you can hear the bird calling (along with my daughter’s imitation) and I took a screenshot from the video to show a still picture. These are the best that I have. I also haven’t seen the birds at all since yesterday afternoon 😕 If I see any sign of them again, I will be sure to let you know."
They are two full adults and may well be a mated pair. Anyone who passes by the area (on the south side of Johnson Street across from the Dog Park, on the west side of the power line easement) might stop for a moment to see if the eagles are present.
