Ok ken here is the situation:
As I promise I went back to the nest this morning around 7:05am, close to the nest perching almost next to it was an adult I believe by the size of the tail is our male Pride I watch for a min I got hope for an instant that our female Joy was laying at the nest because of the close of Pride to it and because I realize that the juvenile that I saw last night too Was perching In top of the nest and Pride (male) was there protecting the egg and every time the juvenile make a movement he got on protecting mode and start vocalizing but if our Joy (Female) wouldn't be there she will go crazy too!! I would be able to see her but no, I stay there for about 30 min and the juvie start getting impatient and went down to the nest and they start I wouldn’t say fighting but they start flying in violent mode they never touch each other though, until the juvie did land at the nest then after 1 to 2 min going back and for each other surprisessly Pride left letting the juvie land at the nest, an empty nest first start fixing some rails and then look like was eating some leftover stay there for more than 10 min and then left never saw Pride again while I was there, this juvie is not even close to maturity head still brown with no sing of white feather, but let me tell you its been feeding very well because it sure look amazingly beautiful and big, I still pray for our Joy came back maybe she is on other duties I and know another nest far away from here really don’t remember where but the female left for about 20 or more days everybody thought that she was dead but she came back apparently with some injuries but came safe, anyway now I know something happen and most likely this year there will be no happy season for us who love this nest so much I pray for this to change I don’t care if we lost the season but I want her back to the nest safely I know they are animal but I can’t stop thinking how he is missing her after so many years together maybe I look stupid maybe my human side is coming out but sure he will miss her !!!!! Maybe only him know what happen to her OH MEN I FEEL I also want to comment i don't know if you agree with this but another fact that make me think that is Pride and no joy is that by this time of the season if she is the one we see at the nest she would be able at least to laid an egg at least one would be ready to laid and then of course she would abandon because she wouldn't be able to feed herself and protect the nest and take care of the egg . in my experience with other nest this is what happen when an egg has been laid and one of the parent disappear. SOISAD I'm sorry I cannot post better images.

Thanks, Velinda, for such a complete description of events at the nest this morning. I too feel apprehensive about whether Joy will return.
You are right, that they normally would be staying near the nest just before egg-laying time. That immature sounds as if it may be an eaglet from last year's brood, judging by your description of its plumage. I need to update the spreadsheet to reflect the absence of one adult, and I know because of your familiarity with this pair that it is indeed the female that is missing. Let's not give up all hope, and keep watching.

Hi
I drive by the nest practically every day on my way to and from work. I'm off work this week and made it a point to drive over this morning at 9:30am and I did not see any eagle in the area. Will check out more through the week. I will update if and when I see an eagle. MRD |

I just posted be on Pride & Joy Facebook page asking anyone that has seen Joy to please post a picture and please confirm they have seen her . I urged the locals to please be on the look out for her . I am going to stay positive that she is ok . I really hope and pray that maybe the people that have seen Pride just missed Joy.
